Digitaalinen asuntokauppa DIAS now enables electronic housing share and real estate transactions to be completed in Swedish and English in addition to Finnish. Starting on Thursday, June 4, 2026, the entire digital transaction process can be handled in three languages. The update improves the accessibility of electronic housing transactions at a time when approximately two-thirds of Finland’s housing share transactions are already completed digitally.
Buyers and sellers can now complete the entire digital housing transaction process from start to finish in their preferred language: Finnish, Swedish, or English. In addition to housing share transactions, house, lot, cottage, and other real estate transactions can also be completed in three languages on the DIAS digital housing transaction platform. The update makes electronic housing transactions accessible to an even broader group of users and responds to requests from both real estate agents and consumers.
“We have received many requests for DIAS transactions to be available in Swedish and English as well. It is great that we can now meet those requests and enable multilingual and more equitable digital housing transactions for an even larger group of users,” says Kirsti Salo, Business Developer at DIAS.
The real estate agent is responsible for the deed of sale used in digital housing transactions and for the language of the deed. The DIAS platform has previously allowed housing transactions to be completed using deeds of sale drafted in Finnish or Swedish, but the service interface itself has until now only been available in Finnish.
Multilingual support responds to growing demand
The need for multilingual housing transactions that are independent of time and location is growing as more and more Finns complete their housing transactions online. During the past year, the digital DIAS transaction became the most popular way to conclude transactions involving existing housing shares, and its popularity has continued to grow this year.
“Real estate agents already complete approximately two-thirds of housing share transactions digitally, and electronic real estate transactions have increased by nearly 40 percent this year compared to a year ago. It is socially significant that digital housing transactions serve users in both of Finland’s national languages as well as in English,” says Niilo Ursin, Business Director at DIAS.
“The parties involved in a housing transaction should be able to use the service in the language that feels most natural to them. Multilingual support makes transactions easier for Swedish-speaking and international customers and makes Finland’s housing market even more accessible,” Ursin continues.
Ownership registration in DIAS transactions can now be completed in less than a minute
During the spring, ownership registration in digitally completed transactions has become even faster after the National Land Survey of Finland introduced automated decision-making in April for electronically submitted ownership and pledge registration applications.
Today, most applications submitted in connection with a DIAS housing share transaction involving an electronic registration of ownership are processed automatically almost immediately after submission. This means that the new owner of the housing share is registered in the National Land Survey of Finland’s Residential and Commercial Property Information System without delay. Thanks to digitalization, a process that previously required manual handling has, in the best cases, been reduced from months to minutes.
